«This is Chayka!I feel excellent!»

Valentina Tereshkova. 1963.
Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova was born on March 6, 1937, in the village of Maslennikovo, Yaroslavl region. Several years later her family moved to the city of Yaroslavl, where she jumped with a parachute for the first time in 1959.
It was a starting point of a great journey to the stars.

On June 16, 1963 Valentina Tereshkova, the world’s first woman-cosmonaut, took the flight on 'Vostok-6' spacecraft.

Pastry chef Marina Devyatko, a participant of the international project «Gastrocamp Yaroslavl — 2024», drew inspiration from the history of Valentina Tereshkova while creating a dessert for the «Yaroslavl menu».
Dedicated specifically to the woman-cosmonaut, the dessert reflects a blend of fortitude and true grit with tenderness and a flaming heart.
«I love Yaroslavl! The city feels like home, cozy and warm. When it came to creating a dessert to become a claim to fame of this gorgeous city, I was literally at a loss. The first thing that flashed into my mind was the Volkov Theater. Then i thought of the Yaroslavl region — the cucumbers of the village Vyatskoye, the dolphinarium with belugas and a special programme guest Lyubov Kazarnovskaya, Rostov Veliky (the Great)… I wanted to give the warmth of my heart and hands to everyone and everything! But I am a mother of 2 sons, who are a military servant and a pilot. So it appeared to me, „What if the burning eyes of my boys and their motivation could help me?“. Immediately I thought of Valentina Tereshkova!Like no one else, I know how my son’s eyes light up when he hears the word „flight“, how involuntarily his gaze rises to the sky when the sound of an airplane engine appears! And here… it’s about an outer space!» passionately said Marina Devyatko, a pastry chef.
The «Chayka». A mousse dessert with a fruit filling of raspberry and green basil, covered in white velvet
«Dedicated specifically to the woman-cosmonaut, the dessert reflects a blend of fortitude and true grit with tenderness and a flaming heart. A woman with a touch of mystery, with a surprise woman, because she is unique! It’s an incredible combination for an incredible person. The filling is made from our native raspberries with a delicious surprise — green basil. The crispy circles represent the turns of the spacecraft. A living cornflower serves as a symbol of the Russian field, and, of course, a chocolate white seagull — the callsign of Valentina Vladimirovna! That’s how I felt it!»
Launched in 2021, the international project «Gastrokamp» is run by the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy. The goal is to promote Russian regions through local gastronomy.
