MEDIA CONCEPT
«My Curiosities» is a media platform featuring a curated selection of interesting discoveries in the fields of comics, illustration, and design.
Media is a channel presented in the format of a commonplace book—unorganized notes connected randomly. The goal of «My Trinkets» is to create a unique archive of materials and personal reflections on comics, illustration, and other subjects within the arts. The author’s vision plays a key role in this medium, as it is what generates the uniqueness and value of the selection. Readers receive diverse information, which can be presented both as professional commentary and as an enthusiast’s perspective. Furthermore, the reader can engage in a discussion with the author and suggest their own notes to expand the archive.
The commonplace book format allows for posts with vastly different content. They can be interconnected or represent a completely disparate collection. An advantage of this format is that you can return to old posts at any time and continue your thoughts from there.
DATA SOURCES
«My little trinkets» use two types of data sources:
1/ content-based
2/ user-generated
Content Assets
These are external materials—things I find, read, watch, and select to use as content for posting.
This can include various articles, essays, and books, but visual sources will play the most significant role. These include: illustrations, design, artists' portfolios, contemporary art objects, comics, and more.
Additionally, some of the content will not express the author’s personal opinion but will serve an informational function. For such posts, informational channels about upcoming exhibitions, festivals, and holidays will be suitable.
User Data
This encompasses everything received from people—from me as the author and from readers.
This data type includes my personal notes on various topics, personal experiences consuming content (my experience or that of subscribers), and old posts supplemented with new interpretations.
The platform’s interactivity allows us to gather data from comments and discussions, external suggestions for posts, and feedback.
User sources are selected because they are what create the uniqueness and voice of the channel. An author’s vision is the key value of «My Fintiflyushki»: without personal thought and reader discussion, the channel would be nothing more than a retelling of others’ selections.Content sources are selected because they provide volume and texture for the archive. They fill out the collections and thematic posts, but value only emerges after the author’s selection and commentary. The principle of connection: a content source is not a post in itself—it only becomes one after selection and establishing a connection with other notes. This is the mechanism of the commonplace book declared in the channel’s concept.
DATA SCHEME WITH HUMAN AND MACHINE PROCESSING SEPARATION
MACHINE PROCESSING
This is everything the channel does automatically or semi-automatically with the data before the curatorial selection takes place.
Gathering and Intake of Information
1/ Receiving incoming materials (from bookmarks, comments, or personal notes)
2/ Metadata logging: date of receipt, source type (user-generated/content-based), or link/file
Normalization
1/ Standardization: establishing a uniform record format and consistent fields (title, type, link, date, tag).
2/ Deduplication—filtering out duplicates and previously saved materials.
Automatic Tagging
1/ Assigning tags based on content type (comic / illustration / design / book / film / object)
2/ Primary sorting by themes and formats (collection, commentary, process, discussion).
3/ Extracting basic attributes: author, year, format, source
Storage
1/ Unified archive with fields: id, source type, subtype, title, link/file, date, tags, status.
2/ Workflow statuses: accepted → normalized → labeled → pending selection
Preliminary Selection
1/ Automatic Candidate Selection: «what has accumulated this month, ” „what fits the theme, ” and „what has not been used yet.“
2/ Compiling rough sets for future posts—but without a final decision
Machine processing within «My Fintiflushki» functions as a preparatory pipeline: it takes in raw materials, standardizes them, removes duplicates, assigns base tags, and archives everything with a processing status, and then suggests preliminary sets of candidates for future posts. Critically, the machine does not make judgments about value—it merely organizes and stores data, while selection, personal insight, and establishing connections between notes remain with the author. This separation allows the channel to retain its uniqueness and voice: automation eliminates the routine of collection and annotation without supplanting the author’s vision, which is the core value of the selection.
HUMAN EDITING
These are entries that have passed the automated system but are currently marked as «pending review.» In other words, they have already been accepted, normalized, and tagged, but have not yet been published as a post.
Selection
1/ The author reviews candidates and decides what merits archiving. Criteria: personal reaction, connection to the channel’s theme, and potential for commentary.
2/ Discarding materials that lack personal insight or connection to other notes.
Reflection and Commentary
1/ An original thought is added to the find: a professional commentary or a lover’s perspective.
2/ A personal reaction is recorded—what distinguishes a post as original content rather than a simple repost.
Establishing Connections
1/ Key phase of the commonplace book: linking entries to other notes in the archive. Connections can be thematic, visual, or random—the act of connecting is what matters.
2/ This is where collections, comparisons, and «odd» posts like «bowl, poster, and comic» emerge.
Publication and Invitation to Discussion
1/ The post is published with a final question for the reader.
2/ Comments and submitted finds return to the machine cycle as new user data—the loop is closed.
Archive Review
1/ Periodic review: what is re-read, what is re-envisioned, and what transitions into the «re-readable» archive.
2/ Older entries may gain new context and become a new post.
In «My Finteflyushki, ” human curation constitutes the value contour: the author selects from the tagged archive only what is truly compelling, adds personal thought and professional or amateur commentary, establishes connections with other notes, and chooses the post format. After publication, the author engages in discussion with readers and periodically revisits the archive, finding new connections in older entries. This is where the channel’s uniqueness is born: while the machine merely organizes data, the meaning, voice, and value of the selection are created through the author’s selection and interpretation. The cycle closes—through reader comments and discoveries sent back into the machine loop—transforming „Finteflyushki“ from a personal notebook into a living, growing archive.
GUIDELINES FOR AUTOMATED SERVICES IN THE SCHEME
1/ Service—executor, not author: any action is reversible and verifiable.
2/ Nothing is permanently deleted; every action is logged.
3/ Manual edits by the author always override automatic markup.
4/ Auto-tags are suggestions, not facts.
Prohibited: publishing, deleting entries, changing author comments, automatically linking notes, or transferring user data externally.
Material Selection Principle
1/ Select only what personally resonates with you.
2/ Always document the source (link, author, date).
3/ Do not chase volume: one insightful discovery is better than ten links.
4/ Reader submissions are treated equally.
Principle of Archiving and Relationship Structuring
1/ Unified Archive and Standard Fields: type, subtype, source, date, tag, idea, relationships. The structure must help the user navigate.
2/ Relationships are the archive’s greatest asset. They must be intuitively understandable to the user and recorded in one place.
3/ The archive is periodically reviewed and updated. It is possible, and necessary, to return to older materials.
Principles of Posting Rhythm
1/ Publish when you have curated material, a personal insight, and at least one connection to other posts.
2/ Allow for pauses: they are not a gap in the channel, but time for archive accumulation.
3/ Plan not «how many posts per week, ” but „which connections have matured.“
4/ Utilize your accumulated content: monthly collections, thematic series, or reviewing your archive—natural ways to break a pause.
5/ Maintain a balance of post types (curation, commentary, analysis, note, development diary) so that the rhythm does not devolve into monotony.
