Concept
«Meaningless» — media about symbols and how their value shifts within culture.
We explore familiar images, objects, colors, plants, and symbols: where they originated, what they signified across different cultures and eras, and why they continue to reappear in contemporary art, fashion, design, and daily life.

Media examines symbols through three lenses:
Symbols Across Cultures — an exploration of diverse, sometimes opposing meanings of a single image across different peoples.
The Life of a Symbol — the history of a symbol’s origin and the evolution of its meaning as it transitions across eras and cultural contexts.
Symbols Today — the manifestation and reinterpretation of historical motifs within contemporary visual culture.
The main media formats include card posts, visual collections, short videos, and articles. Publications are distributed via VK, Telegram, and supplementary visual platforms.
The project’s value lies in helping the reader better understand the cultural context of familiar images, find connections across different eras, and use visual references meaningfully.
Data Sources for Media
To prepare publications, «Neznachit» utilizes four groups of data: historical and research materials, imagery, audience interest data, and its own editorial archive.
Audience Data — reach, saves, reactions, comments, and survey results from our own VK and Telegram channels. Additional data, such as search queries from Wordstat and Google Trends, may also be examined. This information helps to determine the level of interest in a topic, but it is not used as proof of cultural or historical facts.Editorial Internal Data — content plan, archive of published materials, source registry, verified fact cards, image rights information, and version history. The editorial database allows for the reuse of research findings and tracks which sources were used to prepare each piece of content.Source Verification Protocol: every substantial claim must have a verifiable citation. Controversial cultural interpretations are cross-referenced with independent studies. If accuracy or context cannot be confirmed, the information will not be published as an established fact.
Data schema separated for human and machine processing
Media production is structured as a sequence of eight stages. Automated services gather, systematize, and adapt the data, while the editor is responsible for selecting the topic, ensuring historical accuracy, interpretation, and final approval of the material.
The editorial team uses four statuses: DRAFT — draft, NEEDS REVIEW — requires further review, VERIFIED — information confirmed, APPROVED — material approved for publication.Automatic publication is permitted only for materials with the APPROVED status.
Guidelines for Automated Services in the Scheme

The «Significance» automation is used to find sources, extract information, prepare drafts, generate illustrations, and analyze publications. Each service operates according to established rules and passes disputed decisions to the editor.
