HSE Annual Report 2020/2021
The Design Laboratory team has prepared the structure and layout of the HSE Annual Report 2020/21.
The annual report is an already habitual form of presenting the information on the company, organization or university achievements. Annual reporting gives a chance to tell about the key events in the organization’s life, about the implemented projects, the figures that were reached and a lot more.
For the Higher School of Economics the Annual Report is a document describing the development of the university as a leading scientific, educational, analytical, consulting and project educational institution, the main directions of the university’s activities, its peculiarities and differences from the others.
The basis of the report’s concept is the story of people presenting their university, thus, one can find in the report not only the figures and the indices of the university’s development but also get acquainted with its educational, scientific, social programs and projects that are presented from the book’s pages by the students, teachers, professors, administrative staff themselves.
The visual layout of the report is based on the newly updated HSE brand book with the usage of the branded fonts and color palettes.
The design concept of the HSE Annual Report is the visualization of the dialogue between people and figures. The idea was to quickly, intensively and visually loudly demonstrate the figures being important for HSE life in graphics. The final Annual Report is a rhythmic dialogue of white and blue colors while the blue new brand HSE color is one of the main characters. But the key elements of the report are the people: employees, students and teachers, those without whom HSE can’t exist. In the framework of the project, the special photo session of HSE community was organized.
All the communication infographics is solved in laconic visual language — large blocks in the diagrams in one color divided into percentage facilitate the maximum attention concentration on the infographics, and the infographics itself is quickly perceived. The typographic in the layout repeats the idea of a contrast dialogue — the large blocks of the key themes and smaller typographic for the additional information. The main task of the Annual Report was to bring the most important information to the reader, to do it briefly but clearly.
The HSE Annual Report participated in RAEX annual reports competition and received a special diploma ‘Best Practices in Preparing the Universities’ Annual Reports’.
