Registration for the event
HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL and the Faculty of Creative Industries have established the Folk Crafts as a Brand nomination as part of the international student online competition HSE CREATIVE OPEN.
The goal of the competition is to gather original ideas and spectacular projects in all areas of design, contemporary art and fashion on one platform and to gain the attention of the creative community to the development of jobs in the industry.
Students from any university, regardless of the location they are based at, can participate in the competition.

About the nomination
Thinking of traditional handicrafts as local brands or brands with a global name, we suggest to consider «rebranding» as a goal of updating the identity and subject basis of a handicraft, broading the understanding of brands.
From our point of view, the work should be done in the field of increasing brand awareness and its history through objects of the environment, games and media. In order to reach this goal, it seems logical to create umbrella brands «around» the handicraft itself, and its products as well. A subject environment that supports, but does not blur the value of examples of folk art. Defining the boundaries of such an umbrella brand is also one of the goals of the competition.
The main idea of the nomination is to show the most acute and relevant solutions in the field of modern design that are possibly beyond the traditional ideas about the genre.
