Ice skating encompasses various types of ice skating competitions. The International Skating Union (ISU) oversees the organization of speed skating tournaments (speed competitions on a large, 400-meter oval), short track speed skating (races on a hockey rink), and figure skating. Ice sports, the most popular of which is hockey, are administered by other organizations.
