skiing

A collection of various winter sports in which athletes compete using skis. It includes cross-country skiing of various distances, ski jumping, Nordic combined (cross-country skiing and ski jumping), and alpine skiing. Skiing originated in Norway in the 18th century. Skiing has been part of the Winter Olympics since 1924.
