What is multidisciplinary design?
Multidisciplinary design is the practice of working across several disciplines — such as typography, photography, illustration, calligraphy, textile, and sculpture (in my case) — rather than staying within a single specialty. It is not about doing many things superficially; it is about letting different ways of making inform one another, so that a typographic solution can draw on photographic thinking, and a printed object can borrow from handcraft.
A multidisciplinary designer approaches each task as a whole, looks at it from several points of view, and chooses the method the problem actually asks for. In this sense, multidisciplinarity is less a list of skills than a way of thinking: a wider view that connects fields instead of separating them.
Can one person really do all this?
For a long time, the question followed me: isn’t multidisciplinary work just scattered work? Shouldn’t a designer pick one field and stay there? I heard it from others — and, honestly, asked it myself.

So I look at every task from several angles
Instead of choosing one lens, I approach each brief as a whole — from several points of view at once — and look for answers across different fields.

I can do a lot
I can’t do everything
My real talent is learning

I’m 21, a fourth-year Communication Design student at HSE University (St. Petersburg). Over these 21 years I’ve tried a huge number of disciplines — and settled into many of them. What I can’t do yet, I will learn: learning itself is my core skill.Typography | Photography | Art Objects | Calligraphy | Linocut | and MORE

It started early
It began in childhood: I graduated from three schools in parallel — and at the same time ran to pastry courses. Doing many things at once was never a plan; it was simply how I learned.

Comedy in Four Acts Drama in Four Acts
The project combines two opposite views of the play «The Cherry Orchard» — Stanislavski’s interpretation (tragedy) and Chekhov’s own perspective (comedy).Comparing these contrasting interpretations allows the reader to see the nature of the conflict between the director’s and the author’s vision, understand why their views differ, and decide for themselves what genre the play really is.

The project is a 2nd place of the «DAFES AWARDS. ЖАР-КНИГА»

Pushkin’s Drawings
The illustrated book about Pushkin’s drawings reveals the poet’s graphic legacy, showing his sketches in the margins of manuscripts — portraits of his contemporaries, caricatures, self-portraits, and doodles related to his work. The book explores how these drawings complement the texts, reflecting Pushkin’s thoughts and moods, and also looks at their artistic style.

Urban Local Identity | Collection of Articles
The project is a collection of scientific articles dedicated to studying the phenomenon of local urban identity. The publication looks at how city communities form, the conflicting aspects of urban development, and much more.

Bottle: forms of life
A history captured in silhouettes. How an ordinary vessel turned into a reflection of its era, absorbing the spirit of the time, technological possibilities, and cultural meanings. The evolution of the wine bottle is a dialogue between functionality and art, where each new shape became a response to the challenges of its time.
