Same people can’t create a city. Same people can’t create anything. That’s why we at the Design School have a lot of attention and respect for the specifics of every individual that comes to us. The most successful and inspiring projects take place at the intersection of different points of view, optics, and worldviews. So, until 2020, when online became an equal part of our lives, the opening contest for applicants, together with the introduction of a creative project, included a face-to-face interview that allowed mentors and future students to look at each other, communicate and share ideas about art, culture, profession, future and, of course, about themselves. The comments left by the curators following these meetings formed the basis of the standard for the 13th anniversary of the ICU School of Design. Of the thousands of notes, we have chosen only a few — those that answer ourselves — and often reflect our sense of self. With this standard, we want to say thank you to all the brilliant, interesting, uncomfortable — very different people who, year after year, make the Design School what it is.
