HSE. Cornerstone.
For the HSE 30th anniversary the Design Laboratory has created the bulletin ‘HSE. Cornerstone.’ describing the history of Moscow buildings that the university occupies today.
The bulletin consists of the historical sketches on the university’s buildings, a brief review of the projects implemented in the framework of the program ‘University Opened to the City’ and the descriptions of five excursion routes ‘Around HSE’ within Moscow regions in which this or that university’s building is situated.
The majority of the university’s buildings have a rich history lasting for several centuries and the bulletin presents short descriptions of the events that were happening ‘intra muros’ long before the university moved in.
Thanks to the programs ‘The University’s Third Mission’ and ‘The University Opened to the City’ all the university’s buildings are actively participating in Moscow everyday life. The university is organizing free excursions around the most famous HSE building — Durasov’s House, the classicism monument dating back to the XVIIIth century, for the employees, students and guests.
For those interested in the history of Moscow the HSE has developed five informative attractive routes in the form of the maps around most interesting sights situated next to the university’s buildings. Studying these maps one can not only get acquainted with the history of the buildings but also learn more on the neighboring historical places and architectural monuments. The routes cover the regions ‘Chistye Prudy’, ‘Kitai-Gorod’, ‘Pokrovka’, ‘Staraya Basmannaya’ as well as the main route — ‘Around HSE for 40 minutes’ (Myasnitskaya street, Bolshaya and Malaya Lubyanka streets).
