Introduction.
The theme of propaganda through art was relevant even before our time. For instance, rulers of the ancient world actively erected statues to emphasize their power, «subtly» imposing state ideology, values, and culture.
We will examine how art was used to promote state ideals across different historical periods.

Ancient Rome.
Money has always evoked awe, but in the hands of the Ancient Romans, it was not just a means of exchange; it was an object of imperial worship. Rulers were often depicted on coins as deities or in the robes of priests. By presenting themselves in semi-divine guises, they sought to tie their cult to Roman religious traditions—alongside portraits of the rulers, sacred sites of various gods were depicted on the coins. It is for this reason that the coinage of this era can genuinely be called a work of art used to propagate views of imperial greatness.

Ancient Egypt.
Art in Ancient Egypt served not only aesthetic purposes but also functioned as a powerful tool of propaganda, reinforcing the pharaohs' authority and maintaining social order. Pharaohs were depicted in majestic poses, adorned with symbols of power, which emphasized their might and divinity. The pharaoh was not merely a ruler, but a divine embodiment, which legitimized his power and granted him the right to govern the land.

France.
A very important facet of Napoleonic propaganda was the creation of a cult around his personality. He engaged many prominent artists, such as Jacques-Louis David, Antoine-Jean Gros, and others. Under Napoleon’s orders, many paintings were created whose subjects, in one way or another, glorified him as a ruler and military commander, although these subjects were not always truthful.

Napoleon’s influence was evident in other areas of art. During Napoleon’s reign, many beautiful buildings and structures were erected in Paris, becoming symbols of France’s grandeur and its ruler.
