The Chinese have broken the mold again. We thought the peak of automotive comfort was reached with ventilated seats, lumbar massage, and a refrigerator for energy drinks. But the team at Deepal (a subsidiary of the Changan giant) looked at all of it and said, «Boring. Where is the relaxation, bro?» And they patented an integrated foot bath.

Yes, you heard correctly. Right in the car. You no longer need to drag yourself home after a long day, fill a basin, and try not to spill water on the laminate flooring. Deepal engineers have invented a genuine automotive spa complex. The device is cleverly hidden in a niche directly beneath the front passenger seat. When the moment comes and your feet demand relaxation, a footbath emerges from under the seat.

But this isn’t just some flimsy plastic basin that will rattle on every bump. The Chinese approached the problem with frightening seriousness. First, there are special dampeners inside—those things that absorb water vibrations. Imagine: you’re stuck in traffic on the Third Ring Road, and the water in your car’s jacuzzi doesn’t even ripple. Magic.
Secondly, it features an entire engineering system. There is a quick-disconnect fitting for filling with water and a separate disinfection unit to prevent a whole new civilization of bacteria from growing after you use it. Plus, there are temperature sensors to ensure you don’t scald yourself, and overheating protection. You can control this entire spa unit directly through the vehicle’s onboard tablet or via Bluetooth.
