The design of the mini-hotel refers to the image of fish ponds, which were cultivated in St. Petersburg in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The hotel consists of several non-self-propelled barges with warm superstructures.
The «main» barge has a hotel reception and a restaurant serving local fish. The other boats are equipped with rooms of varying standards and sizes.
The fish cage is a large barge with a superstructure with commercial, storage, and living spaces for clerks and workers. Slots with grid bottom were made in the floor of the barge, and the fish was kept in running water, from where it was fished for the buyer.
The peculiarity of the hotel is the presence of places with live fish — aquariums and cages, which have functional characteristics in addition to aesthetic ones. For example: an aquarium-window or an aquarium-partition. Each hotel room is inhabited by a fish of a certain species. Fish are local and have gastronomic value. Residents are given the opportunity to dine with their favorite fish in the room.
