The BLOOM porcelain vase is a dynamic structure with the distinctive nature of an blossoming flower

In the BLOOM series I explore the concepts of rigidity and dynamics. By combining eight modules of two varieties with each other, I created flexible structures with the nature of an out-blooming flower. Then, I explored the choreography of these kinetic forms, capturing the stages of their movements. The combination of the motions of these structures was expressed in the volume of the vases presented.

Art Residence «Antihcrupkost» 2023. A vase created at the Sysert Porcelain Factory
In my work, I explore the principles of modular systems and apply their mechanics to the creation of collectible design and art objects.
The sensual image of an unfolding flower is an engineered modular design that is actually built according to a strict system.

You can see that the vase expands to the top on one side and shrinks on the other. This happens because of the physical interaction of the modules that underlie the shape of the object. This graphic appeared due to the physical existence of the modules and by sketching the shape «by hand» on paper. In digital format, these graphics can only appear after the form is created by hand by the author and subsequently digitized.

Moscow Museum of Design, 2024. Exhibition «History of Russian Design»
The first ideas of this object were visualised several years ago and presented at a solo exhibition at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts. During the exhibition, the first prototypes of the object were 3D printed out of plastic.
Then, the project was selected for realisation by the Antihcrupkost art-residency and was produced, as it was intended, from the finest porcelain, at the Sysert Porcelain Factory.
