The HSE Educational Institute with the support of the HSE Art & Design School prepared and issued the collection of studies ‘New Senior School Abroad: variants of solutions’.

The collection consists of five linked one to another but at the same time separate study projects describing the educational systems and the samples of senior schools organizing in Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Singapore and Kazakhstan. The authors describe the state educational system in general, determine the place of senior school in it and give a sample of an innovation educational institution, its concept and the principles of organizing educational processes in it.

The publicly accepted models of senior schools oriented on the new educational results are considered by the authors on the background of the processes ongoing in the states’ educational systems. The authors try to understand the reasons of paying attention to these models, propose the variants of using their experience for modernizing the senior school in Russia and recommendations on organizing the working process for the school management. The pool of authors consists of the experts in education management — managers, employees, graduates of the master’s program ‘Management in Education’ of the HSE Education Institute.

The publication contains a pool of materials for the usage as guidance manuals when organizing experimental work, including the aspects related to the educational infrastructure and educational environment, understood as part of a comprehensive educational process. The materials can also be used by the teams involved in the development of educational space design projects (designers, architects, heads of educational institutions) at all the stages of design.

The book substantiates the importance of understanding the educational environment as a tool for implementing the educational concept and achieving certain educational results. The cases of senior schools that implement educational programs differing from those widely distributed in the region, which aim to prepare their students for entering the leading universities of the region and the world, are analyzed. Compliance between the conceptual requirements for the educational environment and solutions in the field of design and design of educational spaces are formulated.
