Chittagong aka Chattogram is one of the oldest port cities of the world. Unique and diverse in its culture, language and ethnicity, the place has it all for someone who looks for serenity and absurdity in one place.
I grew up in the city that was called Chittagong. Surrounded by hills, rivers, greenery, beach; my childhood was abundantly fulfilled by nature. It was, and still is quite common and efficient for us to cross the river Karnafuli by boat to go from the heart of the city to our ancestral home in the suburbs. As I went abroad for higher studies, I was taken aback, not by the cultural differences of a different country, but by the fact that it is quite normal around the world to not be able to go to the riverbank or the beach whenever you want. In this video, I tried to capture the mysteries, myths and the water of Chittagong, just the way they captured my soul growing up. About me, I am a female student of Media Studies and Journalism at ULAB, aspiring to become a filmmaker one day.
