As part of the its x competition, the Niu Wshe School of Design created three series of alternative posters for Indonesian films: 1. The Raid (2011) 2. Pamali (2022) 3. Indigo (2023)
The Raid
The film describes a failed attack on a large, multi-storey, multi-storey house run by a drug baron. SWAT gets into multiple traps and only a few heroes from the squad manage to get out of the building alive. When I created the posters, I repulsed my personal feelings from the film and drew them right during the screening process. This resulted in bright images and flyings that formed the basis of the posters. The color emphasizes the cruelty and saturation of the film by the constant confrontation of the parties.
In the next poster, I emphasize the dynamics and darkness of the events in the film by means of a symmetrical composition from a film with major heroes.
Pamali
The film describes a young couple who came to her husband’s home village to sell his parents' house. But the dark corners of the past make sense, and if we don’t honor ancient traditions, we can get into trouble. The posters use hand-held machines to transmit the cryptic atmosphere of the film through the images and details we recognize.
Indigo
The film talks about people with unusual abilities, called «Indigo» because of the color of the aura. The ability to feel other worlds is not only a gift but also a curse — the body of the main hero wants to take possession of the evil spirit. Posters are dominated by deep blue, which refers to superpowers. I tried to convey the mystical atmosphere of the film and the feeling that the parallel world was closer than we thought.
