LOCATION-Meerut is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is an ancient city with settlements dating back to the Indus valley civilization having been found in and around the area. the city lies 70kilometre northeast of the national capital New Delhi, and 453 km northwest of the state capital Lucknow. The area of the todays Meerut is 2590sq.km, 662 villages and 86,55% people mostly spoke Hindi language.
HISTORY-The origin of the Meerut can be traced back to 273BC, following which, the city has gone through a transition from the ancient era of MAHABHARATA, The ASHOKA times, The GURJAR times and finally, the British occupation in Meerut and rest of India. BRITISH EMPIRE-From Meerut, The Meerut mutiny 9may1857 was the start of 1857 Revolt. KADAM SINGH was in charge. Indian sepoys assassinated British officers and broke loose the jail. HASTINAPUR-The Hastinapur has mysterious, historical and huge history in the Meerut. Meerut is known as the gateway to Hastinapur. It was the seat of power for both the Kauravas and Pandavas. So many monuments are very famous in the Hastinapur like Digamber Jain Mandir.

Delhi-Meerut expressway or national expressway is India’s widest 96 km long controlled — access expressway, connecting Delhi with Meerut. Meerut is the largest city in NCR after Delhi also known as SPORTS CITY OF INDIA. This city is one of the largest producers of sports goods, musical instruments and scissor. This place famous for its cricket bats internationally. Even the best cricket players are also playing with these bats like Sachin Tendulkar and M. S. Dhoni. GHANTAGHAR — The Ghanta Ghar is a magnificent structure that was built by the British in 1914. The tower on which this clock is erected originally used to be a gate called KAMBOH DARWAZA. AUGHARNATH TEMPLE — Dedicated to lord Shiva, this Hindu temple is located the cantonment area of the city and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Meerut. GANDHIBAGH — It was set up by East India Company. It is the oldest park in Meerut. TANK SQUARE — It is very famous for war memorial.
NAUCHANDI FAIR — It was started in 1672 AD as a one-day affair mainly for cattle traders. It is a rare symbol of communal harmony with visitors to both the Hindu and Muslim shrines. KAWAD YATRA — It Is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva known as Kanvarias. CULTURE AND RITUALS — Culture of Meerut- folk dance and music is part of the culture. India celebrates all cultural festivals because the six major religions Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh collected data on the religious faith. Celebrations of ritual and cultural events are the emotions like Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, Lohry, Makar Sankranti, Eid, Easter, Christmas, etc.
